Even though I am a busy Mum I always find time to explore the world through the internet.
Although I browse regularly, it took me a while to work out the best way of using the internet in business. For me, it comes down to these five things.
Promotion – This is the most common use – a description of services on offer and a spiel about the company. As part of an overall marketing plan, an informative, user-friendly website like www.beachhouseconstructions.com.au is invaluable to promote your business.
Freelancing – You can use the internet to find work, this is especially so if you freelance. Try www.elance.com. If you are looking for specific work, such as writing or blogging, some sites specialize in posting these jobs such as jobs.problogger.net.
Sales – Of course, you can always sell your beautiful products online like one of my favourite shops at nordicdesignshome.com.au. Many stores now also incorporate a blog to keep you posted with updates like another favourite www.ecotoys.com.au/blog. You can also write and sell your own ebook like www.thegiftofsleep.com.au.
Marketplace – You could create the platform or marketplace for others to use or add content to such as http://www.salvagebazaar.com.au. Just think about facebook!
Partnerships – If you develop a reputation as an expert and have a website that lots of people visit often, people may pay you to advertise on your website or to be included as a link (to another product or service) which rewards you if a visitor follows.
Advising on the internet is part of my job (www.copelandsmith.com) and Beach House Constructions is a client. I have no affiliation with any of the other websites I have used as examples.
